Breathing and Pushing
· Online or In-person Workshop ·
Preparing for childbirth involves learning breathing and pushing techniques, among others.
Controlled breathing not only helps to manage pain through muscle relaxation and adequate oxygenation (for both you and your baby), but it also helps maintain a constant rhythm during labor.
Learning to push effectively greatly facilitates the birthing process, directing energy to the right area and avoiding unnecessary fatigue or ineffective pushing.
These skills not only offer physical benefits but also promote a more positive emotional response, empowering you and fostering your connection with the birthing process.
We recommend taking our Breathing and Pushing workshop anytime during pregnancy from week 30 onwards. It’s never too late, so if you’re pregnant and very close to your due date, there’s no time to lose!
What will you learn in the Breathing and Pushing course?

- How to push without an epidural
- How to avoid tearing
Why take our course?
Knowing how to breathe properly is crucial for your labor. That’s why for years, in childbirth preparation classes, midwives have taught you how to breathe so you can put it into practice from your first contraction and experience the process more calmly with a better oxygenated and healthy baby.
Benefits of correct breathing during labor:
• It will help you keep your baby well-oxygenated during labor.
• It will be your source of relaxation, helping you stay calm and relaxed.
• It is the most powerful natural pain relief technique for childbirth. If you learn to do it correctly, contractions hurt much less!
It’s not just about knowing how to relax and breathe in the most beneficial way during labor, but also during the last weeks of pregnancy, achieving an even more special connection and bond with your baby during this daily relaxation time.
Knowing how to push properly will be of great help during your labor. If you are giving birth naturally without an epidural, your body will push efficiently and instinctively, and you should listen to your body. In this private session, our midwife will help you understand and visualize the sensations you will experience, practice pushing in different positions, and learn how to control pushing during crowning to reduce the risk of tearing. If you are going to have an epidural, this course is almost mandatory, as you won’t have instinctive pushing, and guidance and practice are fundamental for effective pushing.
